We have also worked alongside editors, proofreaders and typesetting agents.
What do we offer?
Well, Love of Books as a registered Company receives wholesale prices for our printing through our family owned business associates.
We have more time to offer true personal and professional assistance to you as a new self publisher.
This includes our after hours support!
We offer all these services in house and through our freelance register.
Less overhead costs means more savings for you.
Just plain simple straightforward service, quality and value!
Isn't that what it's supposed to be all about?
Our Difference
What is our difference?
With Love of Books what we provide is a little different to most other self publishing services.
This is mainly because staff can work with us from the comfort of their own homes.
We have designed our website as simply as possible to ensure easy access to our publishing and printing services.
In fact we even manage our own website. OK, so it’s not flash but its all a part of the plan.
We do not spend large amounts of money or invest lots of time on heavy advertising in order to simply make sales that add dramatically to the costs related to self publishing.
We rely heavily on referals from our already self published authors along with a little google exposure.
This means more savings for you.
So, if you want to take the straight and narrow path, we are here for you.
Love of Books was established from the strong belief that providing honest reliable and professional services that are affordable is what people really need and should have access to.
Self Publishing Decision
There are many reasons for self-publishing your book, and they usually relate to your head, your heart or your wallet.
In order to make your self-publishing venture a success, you need to be very clear about why you are doing it, and what will be required.
Your reasons will influence every decision you make, both large and small.
Which of the following best describes you?
A lasting record of your achievement (this might be a family history or twenty years of your poetry writing) Your first step towards being published commercially (you are entering a competitive arena – do you understand the publishing industry?) You have something to say (a political commentary perhaps – have you studied the libel laws?) You have specialized knowledge that you believe you can sell (are you good at selling? Do you understand the marketplace?) Publishing with/for others (do you have the terms in writing? Who owns the copyright?)
The pros and cons of self-publishing:
You are in total control of the cover, design and contents – you are also totally to blame! You have to come up with the money to pay for it all – but you get to keep all of the profits (and if you’re sensible, you certainly won’t make a loss) If you want to sell nationally, you will have to wrestle with distributors and bookshops, they will take a large portion of your cover price. There are lots of small ‘marketplaces’ where you can sell your book successfully and commercial publishers can’t (it can be an advantage to be small) It provides the opportunity to experiment, to create and publish outside the mainstream, to offer something new and different to the world.
Your decision to self-publish can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience with the right services and advice.
Ghost Writer
Ghost writer is the term used for a professional who can write your book for you.
Ghostwriter. John Harman is a professional writer who has written for a living all his working life. Apart from his novels and many works of non-fiction, John has ghostwritten more than a dozen books, all of which have been published. www.johnharman.com
Print On Demand
Once you have your book cover design done and your pages typeset in book form you will receive your pdf files for use in the future. With your pdf files you can utilize print on demand technology to print extra copies of your book as required. Usually the price for book printing up to 400 books is a lot dearer than if you were to print say 500 books or more. This is due to the type of printer used for each job. 500 or more books are usually printed on an offset printer. This type of printer is more cost effective than the digital printer. If you are thinking of going this way you need to develop some good marketing skills. Your consultant is a wealth of knowledge and will be only too happy to guide you in the right direction.
